Conservative Parents' Mobilization in Ukraine

How conservative parents' movements develop in newly independent Ukraine? What characterizes the political backgrounds, cultural environment and resources of the Ukrainian conservative parents’ activism? The chapter focuses on an analysis of one of the most well-known parental movement organizations in the country, “Roditel’skiy komitet Ukrainy” (“The Parents’ Committee of Ukraine”, PCU) and its activity between 2011 and 2014. The author applies the concept of demographic nationalism to analyze the roots of parental mobilization, and use resource mobilization theory to explain how this type of social movement managed to gather and mobilize resources from both inside and outside their movement gaining considerable attention and a following in contemporary Ukraine
