Розіп’ятий ерос Григорія Сковороди

Signifi cant events in the life of a thinker are nearly always certain milestones of his creative biography. Gregory Skovoroda’s spiritual biography is unfolding from the phantasmagorical dream he saw in Kavray 24 November 1758 to his meeting with M. Kovalynsky, and henceforth till the two signifi cant events that happened in 1770: the miraculous salvation from the Black Death in Kyiv, and his mystical experience (rapture) in Akhtyrka monastery. These events make possible to interpret the period between 1758 and 1770 in G. Skovoroda’s as the period of his spiritual formation. The central issues of these period were: meditations over the mysteries of death and resurrection, friendship, love, and wisdom, beauty of the physical world and the inner beauty of God’s image in man. The unexpected discoveries of the thinker eventually brought him to the intensive experience of the mystery of the cross that had a cathartic release: having passed through the cross the material fl ame of human ἔρως is transformed into the living water of the divine ἀγάπη, and the embarrassment and confusion of a living being lost in the wide world gives place to the calm and wise disposition of God's friend.
